Abstract Concrete‐filled double‐skin steel tube is widely used in high‐rise buildings, wind turbine towers, and offshore platforms. Recycled ceramic aggregate self‐compacting concrete‐filled double‐skin circular steel tube (RCASCCFDCST), a new type of concrete‐filled steel tube composite form in modern construction, formed by filling steel tubes with recycled ceramic self‐compacting concrete that was produced by replacing natural aggregates with waste ceramic aggregate in concrete mixtures. This paper involved both experimental investigations on the behavior of nine RCASCCFDCST specimens subjected to cyclic loading, of which the damage pattern, load–displacement hysteresis curves, skeleton curve, stiffness degradation, ductility, and energy dissipation capacity were analyzed by varying the axial compression ratios, hollow ratios, and the replacement ratios of recycled ceramic aggregate. The results indicated that the hysteresis curve of RCASCCFDCST exhibited a full hysteresis loop with good energy dissipation capacity and high ductility; the cases with recycled ceramic self‐compacting concrete presented a reduction in ultimate load as well as the ductility to those of the ones with normal self‐compacting concrete; the higher axial compression ratios, the lower both the ductility and stiffness; the energy dissipation capacity increased with the increment of axial compression ratios; and the ductility increased with the increment of hollow ratios.
