Abstract

The ancient Tamils, by observing and analyzing their life experiences with their keen knowledge, have contributed many scientific information to their literature. In particular, they have recorded a lot of information about astronomy in the Sangam literature.  The purpose of this study is to mention only some astronomical ideas such as the structure of the universe, day fish, planet fish, heliocentric theory, comets, and meteors. This research article aims to explain the astronomical knowledge of our ancient Tamils, who expressed the same astronomical ideas that have been discovered through scientific  instruments in the present century, in their literature many centuries ago.
