Key Points

  • Neomida haemorrhoidalis is recorded for the first time from Kazakhstan, highlighting its new geographical range.
  • This finding also notes important trophic links between N. haemorrhoidalis and two fungi species in Kazakhstan.
  • The study enhances knowledge on the biodiversity of Tenebrionidae in Kazakhstan, expanding the ecological understanding.
  • In addition to the new beetle record, the specific associations with Russula vesca and Leccinum scabrum are documented.

Abstract

Darkling beetle Neomida haemorrhoidalis (Fabricius, 1787) of the family Tenebrionidae is firstly recorded from Kazakhstan. The trophic links of N. haemorrhoidalis with bare-toothed russula Russula vesca Fr. and blushing bolete Leccinum scabrum (Bull.) Gray are recorded from Kazakhstan also.
