Abstract

Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) is a favourable technique that exploits multiple users to access channel and has attracted wireless communication systems, especially for 5G and beyond. It allows many users to use channel in the same time-frequency, using power domain or code domain multiplexing (CDMA). The performance of is investigated by Bit Error Rate (BER) for AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise) channel, Rician, and Rayleigh fadding channel conditions for BPSK modulation scheme. Analytical expressions for the BER of NOMA are validated through simulations. NOMA for downlink transmission from base station and allocation of power for a far user and a near-by user is analyzed. Decoding the data of far and near user by reducing the level of interference at the near user is presented. The allocation of transmit power among users in NOMA affects the outage probability. Power allocation strategies need to be employed to adapt between capacity of the system and outage probability. For fair power allocation scheme, outage probability and achievable capacity curves for a near and a far user, with respect to transmit power are plotted.
