Abstract

We establish that the ne structure constant α ≈ 1/137.036 is not a fundamental parameter but the residual invariant of discrete quantum trajectories on Z8×Z12 with golden-ratio phase geometry. The spatial structure Z8 is imposed by the octahedral partition of R3. The temporal structure Z12 is the unique minimal cardinal of complete, oriented, non-redundant transitions between 8 states. Berry phases governed by the golden angle θϕ = 360◦/ϕ2 ≈ 137.508◦ (equivalently 2π/ϕ2 ≈ 2.399 rad) induce quasi-ergodic dynamics. Von Neumann entropy measures geometric decoherence. A rigidity parameter β selects coherent trajectories via a critical stability condition. The constant α emerges as : α⁻¹ = (360°/φ²) × exp(-β⟨ΔS⟩) = 137.036 with 0.05 ppm precision. Five structural theorems identify Z8 × Z12 and the golden-angle framework as a uniquely natural discrete setting; within this setting, a canonical quantum dynamics reproduces α with remarkable precision. The theory makes four falsifiable predictions testable with current technology, including octovalent signatures in high-energy physics and measurable Berry phases in articial lattices.
