Abstract

Business research in Kenya's industrial sector has identified gaps in policy frameworks that hinder sustainable economic development. The study employs a qualitative comparative analysis, reviewing existing literature, government reports, and expert interviews to identify and categorize identified policy gaps in business environments across different industries in Kenya. A notable finding is that regulatory compliance costs are disproportionately high in the agricultural sector, affecting small-scale farmers' ability to adopt modern farming techniques. The comparative analysis reveals a complex interplay of factors contributing to these policy gaps and suggests targeted interventions for each sector to enhance business environments. Specific recommendations include simplifying regulatory processes, providing financial support for compliance efforts, and enhancing awareness programmes about available incentives in the agricultural sector.
