  • A downward trend in both anxiety and depression indicated increased wellness over time.

Abstract

Resilience training sessions were used to reduce anxiety and depression levels in 12 at-risk undergraduate nursing and health care students from disadvantaged backgrounds or underserved communities. Following the training sessions for this pilot study, a repeated-measures analysis showed that anxiety ( p =.002) and depression ( p =.018) scores were improved significantly over the academic year. A downward trend of the slope of depression and anxiety scores indicated that the combined training sessions were successful in achieving increased wellness.
