This study provides some arguments that support the understanding of our current situation in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically in terms of digital skills in university teachers, which became highly relevant in coping with the impact of the emerging educational situation. By not having attendance, it was necessary to rethink teaching and learning methodologies, as well as making pertinent adaptations for e- learning and b-learning modalities, which undoubtedly caused many higher education institutions (HEIs) to train in the short term and urgently, to their teachers. The situation described has led to consider the impact of digital skills on university teachers in times of COVID-19 and to reflect on the challenge that the change of modality has implied for institutions to respond to an unexpected situation such as the beginning of the contingency. sanitary.
