Early childhood education (ECE) is recognised as a critical component in improving educational outcomes for children in developing countries like Nigeria. Qualitative research methods were employed, including interviews and focus group discussions with parents, educators, and policymakers. The analysis revealed a significant improvement in school enrollment rates among children who attended ECE programmes (67% vs. 45%). Early childhood education positively influences urban youth school attendance rates, suggesting its importance for educational equity. Investment in sustainable and accessible ECE programmes should be prioritised to further enhance school enrollment among youth in Lagos.
