Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) in Ethiopia represent a rich cultural heritage that intersects with contemporary psychology practices. The integration of IKS into mainstream psychology has the potential to enhance therapeutic outcomes and promote culturally sensitive interventions. The research employs a combination of qualitative interviews (n=15) and quantitative surveys (n=200), supplemented by ethnographic observations. Data analysis includes thematic coding and statistical testing for significance. A significant proportion, 60%, of participants reported integrating IKS into their practice to enhance therapeutic efficacy. Themes identified included cosmological perspectives on mental health and traditional healing methods. The study reveals a promising trend towards the integration of Indigenous Knowledge Systems in Ethiopian psychology, suggesting potential for cultural adaptation and improved patient outcomes. Further research should explore the long-term implications of IKS integration and develop standardised guidelines for its application within psychology practice.
