Gap assessment of current (2017) BGC EOV Specification Sheets

This document corresponds to Milestone MS8: “Gaps in BGC EOVs identified to justify proposed updates - Assessment of current (2017) BGC EOV Specification Sheets”. It presents a systematic assessment of the current Biogeochemical Essential Ocean Variable (BGC EOV) specification sheets, most of which were developed in 2017 and have since guided the implementation of sustained biogeochemical observations within the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS). The report identifies structural and conceptual gaps that need to be addressed in future revisions.
