Highlights•ABUS is a 3D volume imaging technique for screening dense breasts, with similar diagnostic accuracy as handheld Ultrasound.•Adequate training, systematic quality checks and a learning curve are crucial in improving scans quality and reading times.•Recognizing ABUS unique artefacts and pitfalls is key in delivering state of the art exams and reports.•Large multicentric trials are needed to establish the feasibility of ABUS as an additional screening tool for dense breasts.
