Antimicrobial silver nanoparticle-doped poly(vinyl alcohol)/guar gum/gum ghatti nanocomposites: a multifaceted step towards sustainable packaging
Puntos clave
The main aim is to create a sustainable packaging film using silver nanoparticles in a polymer blend.
Developed a composite film using Poly(vinyl alcohol), guar gum, and gum ghatti with silver nanoparticles.
Assessed the properties such as stability, hydrophobicity, antibacterial activity, and biodegradability.
The nanocomposites showed improved stability compared to traditional materials.
Hydrophobicity was significantly enhanced, leading to better moisture resistance.
Demonstrated strong antibacterial activity against common microbes, promoting food safety.
Biodegradability was improved, making it a more eco-friendly option.
Resumen
This work develops a sustainable bio-based packaging film using green AgNPs in a PVA/guar gum/gum ghatti blend, improving stability, hydrophobicity, antibacterial activity, and biodegradability.
