Abstract

In recent years, there are high expectations for the use of digital twin systems in the manufacturing industry. Although many of the systems currently proposed are usually displayed on PCs and tablet terminals. This study aims to develop a digital twin system through VR that takes advantage of the highly immersive experience. We will develop a system to verify the operation of the machining program and to remote monitoring for the machining status. A communication system with PC used to control the actual machine was studied to enable monitoring of the spindle status, which had been a problem in linking the system to the actual machine tools. This also makes it possible to evaluate production efficiency and power consumption by calculating the cutting power, which combines the cutting area quantified from the shape in Unity via pixel count with information obtained from the actual machine tool through the communication system.
