Abstract

The freshwater fish Labeo rohita is an economically important carp species widely cultured in aquaculture for its rapid growth, high nutritional value, and adaptability to diverse environmental conditions. The probiotic bacterium Lactobacillus casei enhances growth performance, immunity, and gut health in Labeo rohita when used as a dietary supplement. A microtome is a laboratory instrument used to cut extremely thin tissue sections for microscopic examination in studies involving Labeo rohita. It is essential for preparing histological slides to analyze tissue structure, growth, and cellular changes. Microtome sections help in detailed observation of organs and tissues in Labeo rohita for research and diagnosis. The bacterium Escherichia coli can be present in the gut of Labeo rohita as part of the microbial community or due to environmental contamination. Its occurrence in the fish gut is often used as an indicator of water quality and hygienic conditions in aquaculture systems.High levels of Escherichia coli may negatively affect the health and growth of Labeo rohita.
