Key Points

  • To determine how Day 3 embryo quality influences pregnancy outcomes after transferring poor-quality blastocysts.
  • Analyzed clinical pregnancy rates following frozen-thawed blastocyst transfers.
  • Compared Day 3 embryo quality during selection of blastocysts for transfer.
  • Evaluated the relationship between embryo quality and live birth outcomes.
  • Day 3 embryo quality significantly predicts clinical pregnancy rates.
  • Higher-quality Day 3 embryos lead to improved live birth rates even in poor-quality transfers.

Abstract

Day 3 embryo quality predicts clinical pregnancy and live birth rates following single frozen-thawed poor-quality blastocyst transfer. When only poor-quality blastocysts are obtained, selecting one derived from Day 3 good-quality embryo for transfer might shorten the time to achieve a live birth.
