Abstract

Image analysis using computer vision represents a new approach for non-contact displacement measurement. This paper aims to compare the accuracy of a non-contact extensometer using image analysis and digital image correlation, which is currently considered as the standard in the field of non-contact extensometers. The accuracy comparison was performed for displacement measurements during the creep test. The measurements indicate that a non-contact extensometer using image analysis can serve as a complete alternative to traditional extensometers. The results provided by the introduced method showed very good agreement with the latter ones.
