Three phase permanent magnet synchronous motor speed control using IGBTs and pulse width modulation technique based on Matlab simulation: article

MDMuhammad Hilmi Dzulkefli

Key Points

  • Speed control effectively varies by adjusting frequency, enhancing performance in applications.
  • Control achieved using pulse width modulation techniques combined with IGBTs in simulation.
  • Matlab simulation assists in analyzing performance and optimizing motor behavior in practical scenarios.
  • Highlights potential improvements in efficiency and application range for permanent magnet synchronous motors.

Abstract

Three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motors are widely used in low and mid power applications because have some performance advantages over wound stator types and have become predominant in fractional hordepower applications. However, users need to control the speed of the motor depending on the desired speed and application. So, this project presents the three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor speed control by varying the electrical frequency.
