Comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) scale does not effectively identify elderly AML patients suitable for intensive induction chemotherapy – a multicenter study from Polish Adult Leukemia Group
Elderly patients with acute myeloid leukemia showed low identification rates for intensive induction chemotherapy using comprehensive geriatric assessment.
The study found that only 45% of suitable patients were accurately identified, highlighting a significant gap in current screening practices.
Observational analysis conducted in multiple centers considered the complex needs of elderly patients, yet revealed poor alignment with chemotherapy eligibility.
This calls for revised assessment strategies to improve suitable patient identification for chemotherapy in the elderly population.
