Abstract

The map Yushu jingtian hedi tu (禹书经天合地图, Map of Tribe of Yu with Longitudes and latitudes) which is included in the book Tianjing huowen qianji (天经或问·前集, Former Part of the Dialogue on the Heavens) is compiled by the folk astronomer You Yi (游艺) in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. This article mainly sorts out the astronomical and geographical knowledge reflected in the Yushu jingtian hedi, and analyzes the influence of this map on pre-modern Chinese and Japanese academic communities. The composition of the map integrates knowledge from astronomy and geography, traditional and Western learning. It holds significant value for the study of exchanges and collisions between Chinese and Western cultures in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.
