Key Points

  • The study aims to explore how fluorination influences self-assembly and charge transport in novel materials.
  • Investigated the effects of aromatic core fluorination on polycatenar self-assembly.
  • Characterized the resulting mesophase and evaluated charge transport properties.
  • Assessed hole mobility in the synthesized materials.
  • Discovered a new mesophase formation from fluorinated hockey-stick polycatenars.
  • Achieved hole mobility levels reaching up to 10 −2 cm 2 V −1 s −1.
  • Demonstrated that fluorination can be used to tune charge transport effectiveness.

Abstract

Aromatic core fluorination directs the self-assembly of hockey-stick polycatenars into a novel mesophase, unlocking tuneable charge transport for application as photo-responsive organic semiconductors of hole mobility up to 10 −2 cm 2 V −1 s −1 .
