With the advent of the digital economy era, how to transform the potential of digital transformation into sustainable innovation capabilities for enterprises has become an urgent issue to address. Utilizing data from A-share companies from (2010-2022), this study constructs a dual intermediary mechanism model to empirically test the impact of digital transformation on the sustainability of enterprise innovation and its underlying mechanisms. The findings reveal that digital transformation significantly enhances the sustainability of enterprise innovation. Further analysis reveals that digital transformation drives the enhancement of innovation sustainability through two pathways: strengthening supply chain resilience and reducing supply-demand coordination costs. Heterogeneity analysis indicates that this impact is more pronounced in non-state-owned enterprises and those operating in highly competitive industries. This paper enriches the theoretical basis for empowering enterprise innovation sustainability through digital transformation from a supply chain perspective, while also offering important insights for companies seeking to optimize their digital strategy focus.
