Numerous disciplines, including mathematics, astronomy, medicine, philosophy, and environmental science, are covered in India's extensive knowledge base. Deeply ingrained in indigenous practices, Ayurveda, Yoga, and Vedic traditions, the ancient Indian Knowledge System (IKS) provides insightful information that is still applicable today. India has presented a revolutionary vision to incorporate IKS into contemporary education with the introduction of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, fusing traditional knowledge with cutting-edge pedagogical frameworks. The goals of this integration are to foster cultural rootedness, foster a creative mindset in students, and create a comprehensive learning experience. The historical significance of IKS, its applicability in the present, and how its incorporation into contemporary teaching might foster interdisciplinary understanding, ethical principles, and critical thinking are all examined in this essay. The essay also explores the educational advancements, curriculum changes, and regulatory measures that are opening the door for this integration. Along with suggestions for successful implementation, issues including faculty training, resource availability, and the scalability of such projects are examined. The ultimate objective is to establish a knowledge ecosystem in which innovation and tradition coexist, producing a generation that honours its history while being equipped to handle new problems. Key Words: Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, Dharmashastras, pluralistic society, multi-pronged approach, environmental sustainability.
