Key Points

  • To propose a model explaining how cosmic memory and identity can persist beyond entropy using principles from relativity and quantum information.
  • Integrating concepts from Einstein’s relativity and Gödel’s universe
  • Utilizing the Minkowski block universe and eternalism
  • Discussing the implications of quantum information theory and neuroplasticity
  • Established a framework for a timeless spacetime supporting cosmic memory
  • Identified how physical decay does not annihilate identity due to information preservation
  • Explored neuroplasticity as a means of maintaining Atman-memory through changing neural networks

Abstract

We integrate modern physics – Einstein’s relativity, Gödel’s rotating universe, the Minkowski block universe, eternalism, and quantum information theory – with a metaphysical “Atman–Memory” framework to propose how a timeless spacetime underwrites cosmic memory and identity survival beyond entropy. We argue that special and general relativity imply a four-dimensional spacetime (“block universe”) where past, present, and future coexist, giving a structural substrate for an eternal record of events. Gödel’s rotating-universe solution (1949) shows that global time can break down due to closed timelike loops, further supporting an atemporal cosmos. In such a framework, identity (Atman) can be preserved as an informational pattern even as physical bodies (and civilizations) undergo entropic decay. We explain that, although fundamental laws preserve information (unitarity, Liouville’s theorem), the Second Law prevents entropy decrease (Landauer’s principle); in practice, information is merely dispersed into entropy, not annihilated. Finally, we propose neuroplasticity as the brain–mind interface: continually rewiring neural networks that encode experience while the core Atman-memory persists. This formal extension shows how a physically timeless block universe can support an indestructible cosmic memory (and thus identity), even as entropy inexorably increases.
