Abstract

Cercospora janseana is a reemerging fungal pathogen impacting rice cultivation in the United States and can affect different plant tissues. Symptoms may occur on leaves (Narrow Brown Leaf Spot - NBLS), tillers (Cercospora Net Blotch - CNB), and panicles (Cercospora Panicle Blight - CPB), with different names assigned based on the plant part affected. This report evaluates the efficacy of integrating host genetic resistance, Tilt (propiconazole) fungicide, and timing of application for managing C. janseana in rice. The trial was carried out in 2024 in Stuttgart, Arkansas, on three rice cultivars (PVL03, CLL19, and RT7521FP). Results from this trial provide insights into the application of fungicide, in association with different cultivars, enabling a better understanding of Cercospora management in rice.
