Archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out during the demolition of an external staircase and internal floor level reductions at Palmer House on Palmer Lane, Coventry, in an area where medieval and post-medieval buildings might be expected. The work was carried out in accordance with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists' Standard and guidance for an archaeological monitoring and recording (2023). No significant features were identified during the watching brief, though a layer of unbonded bricks, re-used from a feature with a terminus post quem of 1785, was recorded.
John Appleby (2025) studied this question.
