Key Points

  • The research aims to develop a framework where spacetime emerges from fundamental discrete components called plates.
  • Proposed a background-independent framework using discrete action-carrying plates.
  • Explored how effective spacetime geometry arises from ensembles of plates through coarse-graining.
  • Analyzed the statistical nature of cosmological expansion linked to action suppression.
  • Demonstrated that ensembles of plates yield an effective Einstein-Hilbert action.
  • Showed that cosmological expansion can be explained statistically by the dynamics of action suppression.
  • Identified potential implications for concepts like quantum gravity and dark energy.

Abstract

This work proposes a background‑independent framework in which spacetime emerges from discrete, action‑carrying constituents termed “plates.” Each plate contributes a quantized unit of action and collectively gives rise to spacetime geometry. Coarse‑graining over ensembles of plates yields an effective Einstein‑Hilbert action, while cosmological expansion arises statistically from action suppression. The paper explores implications for quantum gravity, dark energy, and observational consistency.
