ABSTRACT DePasquale et al.'s camera‐trap observations of ground‐feeding by fruit‐bats is the first photographic evidence of such behavior. However, it has been reported previously since the 1970s in both Old World and New World species variously in captivity and in the wild. Whereas DePasquale's bats appear to have foraged on the ground opportunistically, most reports of wild Pteropus flying‐foxes ground‐feeding were after a storm had stripped fruit from trees.
