Particleboard is a primary option in automotive industry. Sisal, a natural fiber commonly used in producing industrial ropes, can potentially serve as an alternative raw material for particleboard manufacturing. It offers good mechanical strength, making it a suitable alternative for industrial applications. This research aimed to determine effect of ratio citric acid, sucrose on physical and mechanical properties of particleboard from sisal. The characterization of particleboard is determined based on JIS A 5908:2003. The data will be analyze using statistical one sample t-test. The results show that particleboard using sisal with an adhesive ratio of 15% citric acid and 85% sucrose has the best value. The physical and mechanical properties of this particleboard were a density of 0.55 g/cm3, a moisture content of 3.92%, a water absorption of 172.98%, a thickness swelling of 69.06%, an MOE of 7.44 N/mm2, and an MOR of 711 N/mm2. From this physical and mechanical properties, only density meet JIS A 5908:2003 standard. This result also showed that particleboard can’t be used for industry and needs to select the best methods like higher adhesive component.
