Abstract

In the 2nd District of Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, this work describes the construction of a target site-specific response spectrum and the subsequent synthesis of compatible ground motion time-histories for seismic analysis and structural design. The site-specific response spectrum was developed utilizing the seismic hazard parameters specified in the 2015 National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP 2015) and soil reports from geotechnical investigations as part of a performance-based earthquake engineering strategy. This target spectrum captures the expected seismic demand specific to the site's tectonic and geologic circumstances. Finding relevant ground motion data required submitting the target spectrum to the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research (PEER) Ground Motion Database. Thousands of unscaled ground motion data that closely matched the target's spectral properties within a given period range were found after an extensive search. After that, the response spectrum for each site was sent to the SeismoMatch program for spectral matching. A matching procedure was iteratively used to scale each ground motion to match the desired spectrum over the designated period range. A collection of spectrum-compatible, site-specific, and scaled ground motion time histories that may be applied to nonlinear time-history analysis was the end result. When assessing a structure's structural performance under seismic loads, these temporal histories are crucial. The method takes into consideration soil conditions, spectral compatibility, and local seismicity to improve the dependability of earthquake-resistant designs.
