The search of the Electric Dipole Moment of the neutron (nEDM) is the current goal of several experiments around the world. One key element for these experiments is a very stringent control of the magnetic field environment in which the nEDM is measured. In the context of an experiment proposed for the Spallation Neutron Source of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (nEDM@SNS), we developed a COMSOL® simulation of the Magnetically Shielded Enclosure (MSE) of the experiment, as well as an optimization of the Earth’s Magnetic Field Compensation System surrounding the MSE that minimized the magnetic field gradients in the Measurement Region.
