ABSTRACT A transition‐metal‐free synthesis of 1‐arylisoquinolines has been achieved using arylhydrazine salts as arylating reagents in the presence of K 2 CO 3 and K 2 S 2 O 8 . This protocol is metal‐free, requires no specific ligands, and is characterized by operational simplicity, reliability, mild conditions, and environmental benignity. It is thus applicable for constructing bioactive molecules containing the 1‐arylisoquinoline scaffold.
