This paper discusses the component of the oeuvre of architect Aleksandar Stjepanović that relates to buildings intended for higher education and the architect's contribution to the construction of higher education buildings. Although Stjepanović's opus largely comprises residential architecture, he also designed public buildings, among which a significant proportion were those intended for higher education. In addition, Stjepanović, together with his colleagues, participated in other competitions for facilities for this purpose that remained unrealized or unsold. The paper presents both realized and unrealized projects and competition entries for higher education facilities in the broader context of the development of higher education after the Second World War. The paper was written based on the results of previous research, technical documentation preserved in conservation institutions and within the faculties detailed, documentation from the architect himself and interviews with him, as well as field research. In addition to a brief biography of the architect and a description of the historical context that led to the expansion of construction of buildings intended for higher education, the paper also presents and analyses all of Stjepanović's projects of this type.
