(O-10) Recovery of sexuality in women with breast Cancer: results from the sexuality outpatient clinic

Abstract Introduction The aim of this study is to evaluate the sociodemographic, clinical, and psychosexual profile of women with breast cancer attending the Sexuality Outpatient Clinic, focusing on the impacts of cancer on sexuality and the main needs identified for comprehensive care. Materials and Methods Quantitative study with analysis of data from 40 patients in their first appointment. A structured form was used to collect sociodemographic, clinical, and subjective variables. The Mindfulness technique was applied in 100% of the consultations. Results Most patients were between 48 and 57 years old (45%) and had completed high school or higher education (67.5%). Regarding marital status, 47.5% were married. Evangelical religiosity predominated (45%), followed by Catholicism (17.5%). Most had been at the institution for up to 5 years (77.5%). Among treatments, 97.5% had undergone surgery, 67.5% chemotherapy, and 55% radiotherapy. Complex family experiences were recurrent: 52.5% reported conflicts with parents, 47.5% experienced domestic violence, and 45% went through parental separation. Sexual trauma was reported by 75%, and 70% had never received any sexual education. The negative influence of cancer on sexuality was reported by 70%. The main complaints were loss of libido (50%), vaginal dryness (22.5%), pain (15%), and curiosity (15%). Despite this, 75% demonstrated good self-love perception, and 77.5% reported good body awareness. Conclusion The data reveal profound impacts of cancer on sexuality, reinforced by trauma and lack of information. Nevertheless, significant resilience was observed. The outpatient clinic should strengthen interdisciplinary support and review workflows to enhance its positive impact, promoting sexual health as a pillar of comprehensive oncological care.
