The present study evaluates major agricultural development schemes in India, synthesizing official documents, government dashboards, and recent evaluation studies. It reviews scheme objectives, implementation mechanisms, coverage, achievements, and key challenges for: PM-KISAN (income support), PMFBY (crop insurance), PMKSY (irrigation), RKVY (state incentivization / holistic development), Soil Health Card, PKVY (organic cluster promotion), and NFSM (production mission). The paper uses a policy-analysis and literature-synthesis approach to identify gaps in targeting, coverage, financial sustainability, and monitoring, and offers actionable policy recommendations to improve equity, efficiency, and climate resilience of India’s agricultural safety net.
