The article discusses the possibilities of forensic linguistic expertise in the investigation of criminal cases of bribery. The focus is on the expert task of identifying the motivation in corruption discourse, in particular, in the situation of extortion of bribes. Based on the analysis of judicial practice, it is noted that such a sign of the crime in question as demanding a bribe is important for a law enforcement officer. From a linguistic point of view, the essence of the requirement as a form of expression of motivation is revealed. Concrete examples demonstrate the specifics of the implementation of motivation in situations of corrupt speech interaction, which has specific features associated with the desire to convey information in a veiled form, to mask true intentions. It is noted that the possibilities of linguistic expertise in cases of this category are quite wide, and experts are developing new methodological approaches to the study of speech materials.
