This author-prepared version presents a qualitative case study on the implementation of a knowledge management strategy in a large public organization in Iran. The study focuses on identifying the critical success factors that influence the effective execution of knowledge management initiatives in practice. The research is based on direct involvement in the implementation process, participant observation, and practical experience gained during the establishment of a knowledge academy within the Oil Industry Pension Fund Organization. The findings highlight the interaction of people, processes, and technology as the core dimensions shaping successful knowledge management implementation. Key success factors include organizational culture, top management support, strategic alignment with organizational objectives, systematic performance evaluation, and the use of information technology as a supporting infrastructure. This author-prepared version is derived from a conference paper originally published in 2022. The core content, data, and findings remain unchanged. The abstract and keywords have been updated in 2026 to improve clarity, international visibility, and indexing. The study adopts a context-specific perspective and does not aim to generalize the findings beyond the examined organizational setting.
