Key Points

  • This research explores how acceptable a cancer registry-driven testing pathway is among individuals diagnosed with cancer.
  • Conducted a qualitative study with individuals diagnosed with cancer
  • Gathered feedback on the acceptability of the service model
  • Explored preferences for using findings independently or through clinicians
  • Participants found the cancer testing service model acceptable
  • Many preferred to take action on findings independently
  • There is a need for consumer-informed resources and digital options for support

Abstract

Individuals diagnosed with cancer found the service model acceptable. Participants preferred either to action the findings independently, with supporting resources, or permit the cancer registry to directly inform treating clinicians. Ongoing and consumer-informed work is required to develop processes and resources including digital options.
