Abstract

Abstract The author, founder and CEO of Authentically EC, a training, coaching, and personal development company, posits that “the traditional tools of leadership like time management, delegation, and even strategic planning are no longer enough on their own.” She believes that “when leaders design their lives around rituals, the impact ripples outward—to teams, organizations, families and communities.” She also contrasts rituals with routines: “Routines keep us moving. Rituals keep us aligned.” Rituals can be designed at three levels: micro, macro, and transitional. For instance, in her words, micro rituals are the small, repeatable actions that keep you grounded throughout the day. Macro rituals are larger anchors that sustain you over time. And transitional rituals bridge the spaces between roles and responsibilities. She describes her own evolution from working in “high pressure corporate environments” to now leading her own organization and considering life holistically, at work and beyond. She “came to see that leadership is not a set of competencies—it's a state of coherence. It's the degree to which our inner world aligns with how we show up in the outer world.”
