Abstract

A BSTRACT Aims: Evaluate and compare the ToM, functional outcome, and the social skills across different phases in patients with BD-I. Material and Methods: The sample included 90 bipolar I disorder patients (30 in each phase: depressive, manic, and remission) diagnosed as per DSM-5 criteria. Purposive sampling was used. Patients were assessed with HDRS, YMRS, RMET, FAST, and SSI. Results were evaluated using SPSS software. Results: No significant differences in theory of mind performance were found among all groups. The depressive group showed highest functional impairment. Significant difference was found in social skills performance of all three groups, with deficits being present even in the remission group. Conclusion: The study highlights the complex interaction between ToM deficits, impaired social skills, and functional difficulties in bipolar I disorder.
