Abstract Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (1630–1680) stands as one of India’s foremost historical leaders, whose governance, strategic acumen, and ethical framework continue to inspire scholars, leaders, and policymakers. This research paper examines Shivaji Maharaj’s approach to leadership through the dual lenses of ethics and vision. It explores how his strategic foresight, administrative innovations, ethical values, military organization, inclusionary policies, and citizen-centric governance helped build a sustainable and people-oriented polity. Drawing upon primary historical chronicles and secondary analyses, this study concludes that Shivaji Maharaj’s leadership exemplifies timeless principles relevant for contemporary leadership studies.
