The education sector in Somalia faces significant challenges, particularly in teacher training and education. There is an urgent need for teacher empowerment, crucial for developing a generation of skilled learners capable of making significant contributions to national development. This article presents a narrative of the notable progress made by the Somali government in recruiting, training, and hiring public teachers over the past few years. The article asserts that meaningful educational reform for the country hinges on strategic in¬vestment in teacher development. This investment must include standardising teacher training and certification processes, creating conducive working conditions that promote job satisfaction, and addressing systemic barriers such as inadequate funding, lack of infrastructure, and societal perceptions of the teaching profession.
