Background Access to high-quality medical forensic exams can be challenging, particularly in rural areas. A novel modality aimed at addressing this access issue is TeleSANE, where experienced sexual assault nurse examiners (SANEs) consult and/or assist clinicians with limited medical forensic experiences in performing a SANE exam via telehealth. Aim To address concerns with applying this modality to prepubescent populations. Methods We completed a feasibility report to examine a potential prepubescent TeleSANE program. Strategies included conducting a literature review, meeting with SANEs and TeleSANE programs, and engaging with stakeholders and experts to gain consensus regarding feasibility for TeleSANE use in the prepubescent population. Results Pediatric TeleSANE is a feasible and promising innovation to expand access for prepubescent medical-forensic examinations. Discussion We suggest minimum requirements for establishing and sustaining a pediatric TeleSANE program, including limiting TeleSANE to acute exams, specifying both TeleSANE and clinician minimum requirements, and expert exam review.
