Background: The most common sites of metastatic renal cell carcinoma are the liver, lung, bone, and adrenal gland. Metastatic disease to the pancreas and thyroid gland is rare. Metastatic disease can occur unexpectedly more than a decade after initial diagnosis, and histopathological diagnosis may be difficult in the setting of an incomplete past medical history.
