Garcinia celebica L. (1754) is a medicinal plant, native in the Philippines. This study presents the first de novo , characterization, and annotation of the chloroplast genome (plastome) of G. celebica . The plastome of the G. celebica shows a quadripartite structure which consists of a large single copy (LSC) with length of 85,231 bp, a small single copy (SSC) with length of 17,136 bp and two regions of inverted repeats, IRa and IRb, each containing 27,064 bp which separates the LSC and SSC. A total of 128 genes were identified, comprising 84 CDS in which 78 are unique, 36 tRNAs and 8 rRNAs. Phylogenetic analysis results confirm the placement of G. celebica under the genus Garcinia . The findings provide information in understanding the cp evolution of G. celebica and for the future investigation of this genus.
