Abstract Purpose: To describe epidemiology and clinical correlation between presentation of acute conjunctivitis of assumed adenoviral cause and the yearly or seasonal variation in causation at a regional institute in western India. To study course, resolution, and repercussions of viral conjunctivitis in patients of tertiary care centre. Methods: Cross-sectional observational hospital-based study including 500 patients presenting between 1 July to 31 August, 2023. Comparison via other predetermined studied cohorts from India and over the world. A detailed data of days of presentation and symptoms, possible cause of spread, site of infection, and epidemiological factors were noted. Posttreatment resolution with improvement in signs and symptoms was noted, along with complications of treatment if any. Results: Over 6,000 patients presented during the course of epidemic keratoconjunctivitis, from 1 July to 31 August, 2023, of which a total of 500 patients were studied with consent and a brief short study was noted relating to the demographic details, cause of spread, and type of environmental influence. Conclusion: A correlation between various environmental factors and viral epidemics can be assumed. Most of the patients did not have any irreversible complaints, and vision was not affected due to this disease as per the current study. However, a minimal number also reported significant irreversible infections as consequences of self-medication with steroid eyedrops.
