By identifying two distinct FDMSE profiles and key influencing factors, it offers critical care nurses a new perspective to design targeted interventions, thereby enhancing their ability to provide personalised decision support. Critical care nurses should receive structured end-of-life communication training to address the shared vulnerability of ICU SDMs in facing death decision-making self-efficacy across both profiles.
