This article examines the complexities of intercultural youth dialogue in Northern Ireland questioning whether framing such dialogues as between predominantly Catholic and Protestant communities is the best approach in the current context. The evolving demographic landscape, as well as multiple identities and new issues (such as climate change and mental health), challenges such traditional notions of dialogue. This necessitating a re-evaluation of peacebuilding practices to reflect current realities. It is argued that a politicised approach to dialogue that empowers youth with skills to engage in a range of situations is an alternative approach.
