The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence has significantly transformed software development through the introduction of AI-powered code assistants. These tools support programmers by generating code, detecting errors, and offering contextual explanations. As their adoption increases in professional and academic environments, it is important to evaluate both their strengths and limitations. This research paper examines the capabilities and constraints of modern AI code assistants using a qualitative and comparative approach. The study finds that while these tools enhance productivity, reduce repetitive tasks, and assist learning, they also pose challenges related to accuracy, security vulnerabilities, ethical concerns, and over-dependence. The paper concludes that AI code assistants should be used as supportive tools alongside human expertise rather than as replacements for skilled developers.
