The role of HRM in promoting green entrepreneurship among faculty and students in higher educational institutions

In the era of climate change and sustainability concerns, higher educational institutions are increasingly viewed as hubs for nurturing green values, entrepreneurial skills, and eco-innovative practices. Human Resources Management (HRM) plays a pivotal role in shaping policies, practices, and a culture that encourages sustainable entrepreneurship among faculty and students. This study explores how HRM functions such as green recruitment, training and development, performance appraisal, and employee/student engagement contribute to the promotion of green entrepreneurship in HEIs. The research emphasizes the role of HRM in integrating sustainability into academic and administrative frameworks, thereby equipping faculty with the knowledge to foster green business models and motivating students to pursue eco-friendly entrepreneurial ventures. By adopting sustainable HRM practices, institutions can create an enabling environment for innovation, collaboration, and environmental responsibility. The findings highlight that HRM- driven initiatives such as green skill development workshops, eco-innovation labs, and incentive structures significantly enhance awareness and participation in green entrepreneurship. This study contributes to the growing literature on sustainable HRM and underscores its importance in building a new generation of environmentally conscious entrepreneurs emerging from higher education.
